Waiting for Tonight : Washington Wizards vs. Miami Heat
Have you ever considered how much work goes into developing a great basketball team? Moreover, have you thought about how arduous of a task it must be to build a strong starting lineup? Whether or not you have, as a basketball fan one thing is for certain and that is you know what a great team looks like.
When a well-crafted team steps foot onto a basketball court the chemistry is almost immediately undeniable. It shows itself in the way that players communicate with each other on and off of the court, as well as in a teams ability to move the ball from one end of the court to the other. We’ve all been blessed with the opportunity to see a great starting lineup at one point or another in our time as basketball fans.
The ’91 Detroit Pistons, the 94’ Orlando Magic, the ’09 LA Lakers, and the legendary ’10 Miami Heat all top my personal list of legendary lineups. In my mind, this year the Washington Wizards were a clear choice to join the list of elite legendary lineups. You put power players like John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Dwight Howard on the court with fellow NBA veterans Markieff Morris and Otto Porter and great things are destined to happen- so we thought.
After delivering an impressive preseason performance, scoring 3 out of 4 wins, the Wizards seemed destined for a spot in the 2019 NBA finals. However, what appeared to be a sure thing has since turned into a doubtful possibility. The Wizards went head to head against the Miami Heat in their season opener and garnered their first of nine total losses, begging the question- what the hell happened?
What has happened seems to be a notable lack of team chemistry, as well as an inability to recover from what’s been nothing short of a disappointing season thus far. And while it seems most critics have written the Wizards off for the season, I still believe there’s hope for the team. Everyone loves a great comeback story and tonights matchup against the Miami Heat has the potential to be just that for this underdog team.
Tonight I’ll be watching the Wizards with bated breath. How about you?
