Model Basketball @ The Barclays Center

Valentine’s Day is the universal day to spread love, so why not have fun doing it while supporting a great cause. This year Model Basketball partnered up with The Barclay’s Center, Nike, and the Chloe and Maud Foundation for the 2nd annual Model Basketball event. This charity influencer game is a non-traditional New York Fashion Week event played on hardwood at the home of the Brooklyn Nets which brought models, actors, and celebrity influencers together for a few days of basketball festivities.

Model Basketball founder, Brandon Parker has worked tirelessly at putting together a quality event and it showed as everything was a success. Parker, a model by trade, has always been a baller. Originally from the Washington DC area, Parker played for the well known DeMatha Catholic HS and later took his shot at a modeling career in NYC. His love of basketball lead him to combine his two passions and Model Basketball was born. The first year was great but with interest coming from Nike and The Barclays Center, this year was sure to be an epic event. I can only imagine what next years event will look like.

Efforts of the event went to benefit the Chloe and Maud Foundation. Chloe and Maud Arnold, world renowned tap dancers pose for a quick photo. Photo ATH

Tickets for the event included access to the Model Basketball Valentines Day NYFW party, and the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets vs Indiana Pacers game. Proceeds from the event went to the Chloe and Maud Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by world renowned tap dancers Chloe and Maud Arnold. The Arnold sisters aim to inspire young people across the globe by means of education, the arts and entrepreneurship. Chloe and Maud each coached a team with team Maud coming out victorious. The dancing duo gave the crowd a overview of what their organization is about and followed up with an impromptu performance of one of their tap dance routines.

Reyna Scott stole the show and the MVP award for the game. The team Maud point guard was the smallest person on the court but had the biggest heart. She displayed some dazzling passes and was unstoppable.  She has a bright future ahead of her.
