Duke Bluedevils: An unstoppable force

Year in and year out Duke is always in conversation to contend for the national championship. They have arguably the greatest coach in college basketball history and also bring in highly touted prospects that are destined for the NBA to compete for the well-known program. Every year down in Durham going to the NCAA tournament is nothing to celebrate about, it’s expected. To Blue Devil fans, each year is considered a championship or bust season. Cameron Crazies expect nothing less and this might be the year where the Duke Blue Devils can be unstoppable.

For starters they have without a doubt the best frontcourt in the nation. Marvin Bagley lll is the best player in the nation and will be a top pick come the 2018 NBA draft. The 6’11 reclassified forward is destroying the opposition with his versatility by being able to dribble, shoot, post up. His moves are truly crafty, not to mention he’s an excellent rebounder. Along with Wendell Carter Jr, Duke’s frontcourt will dominate on the boards and control the paint. The Blue Devils also brought in guard

By being benched early last season and having a not so stellar Junior year, Allen is looking for redemption by getting back to the All-American player he once was and lead this team to its 6th championship in school history. They have a chance to accomplish that, but have a few hurdles to get over. The only problem with this year’s Duke team is the inexperience that the rest of the players have.

Besides Grayson Allen no other player has played significant minutes. The team is learning on the fly as they overcame large deficits against Texas and #7th ranked Florida. The Blue Devils showed resiliency not being afraid of the limelight, but falling behind towards the end of the season come tournament time usually leads to playing with fire. With a team that lacks depth and shooters they must figure out there true identity by seasons end. Seems like a daunting task, but when you have a
Coach like Mike Krzyzewski, who became the first coach to win 1000 games with one school this team ready and tuned for a title run. Watch out.
